In this talk, Professor Wilkins and Dr. Cecchi-Dimeglio will discuss solutions to attract, promote, retain, and sustain female and diverse talent at all levels in law firms and realize the host of benefits that come from this diversity.

Professor Wilkins and Dr. Cecchi-Dimeglio focus on the transformations happening in professional services and law firms including how the use of nudges can remove organizational biases that prevent women and diverse talents from being recruited, retained, and promoted by firms.

  • Prof. WilkinsProfessor David Wilkins ' 80 is the Lester Kissel Professor of Law, Vice Dean for Global Initiatives on the Legal Profession, and Faculty Director of the Center on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of the Faculty Committee of the Harvard University Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics.

    Prof. Wilkins has given over 60 endowed lectures at universities around the world and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and law firm and corporate retreats. He is the author of over 80 articles on the legal profession in leading scholarly journals as well as a co-author of several books, including The Indian Legal Profession in the Age of Globalization (2016), Diversity in Practice (2016), and Problems in Professional Responsibility for a Changing Profession (6th edition 2016). He and his Harvard Law School colleague, Andrew Kaufman, are also co-authors of one of the leading casebooks in the field.

    He was elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2012 and the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors in 2014 and most recently was the recipient of the Harvard Law School Association Award in 2016. His major research interests include the legal profession, legal ethics, diversity and globalization.

    Cecchi-DimeglioPaola Cecchi-Dimeglio, J.D., LL.M., Ph.D. is a behavioral scientist and Chair of the Executive Leadership Research Initiative for Women and Minority Attorneys (ELRIWMA) at the Center on the Legal Profession at HLS and a Senior Research Fellow, at HLS and HKS (WAPPP). Her areas of inquiry and expertise examine the evolution of the legal profession, focusing on Leadership, Gender & Diversity, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and Organizational Behavior.



    The one hour, monthly HLeX Open Lecture Series is an alumni engagement program that provides HLS alumni around the globe with an opportunity to hear from HLS faculty with the convenience of being in your own office!
