I remind you that the HLSA was founded in 1886 by 400 alumni. Today it has more than 38,000 members with the mission to foster networking, engagement and mutual support among Harvard Law School alumni, administration, faculty and students. Last year the HLSA, through its Clubs and SIGs, organized more than 100 events with over 5,000 attendees! While many of us are making summer vacation plans, I highlight below a few of the opportunities for continued engagement this summer/early fall: July 21 - Alumni Happy Hour - Hosted by the HLSA of Orange County August 4 - Alumni Reception to kickoff the American Bar Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco - Hosted by the HLSA of Northern CA August 11 - Alumni Happy Hour - Hosted by the HLSA of Los Angeles August 15 - Detroit Tigers Vs. Kansas City Royals - Hosted by the HLSA of Michigan September 13 - A Conversation about the Decision to Retire the HLS Shield - Hosted by the Harvard Law Society of Illinois All alumni are invited to the American Bar Association 2016 - Kickoff Reception on August 4th in San Francisco, CA. I hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear from Professor Scott Westfahl '88 while reconnecting with classmates. ![]() Please save the date to attend the HLSA breakfast in Washington, DC on September 21st in conjunction with the International Bar Association Conference (additional details and registration to follow). Finally, members of the classes of 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981 and Emeritus Club are encouraged to return to the HLS campus for your class reunion in the fall - October 28-30. Class reunions are a great opportunity to meet Dean Minow, network with fellow classmates, renew friendships, attend great panels and reconnect with HLS. To see more events being organized by the HLSA Clubs and Shared Interest Groups, I encourage you to visit the Alumni Portal and our Global Events Calendar. I invite you to stay connected by visiting the HLS Alumni Portal and by joining the Harvard Law School Alumni LinkedIn group. Volunteering to help with the HLSA can be a rewarding experience and if you are interested in getting involved, or want to provide feedback on our activities, please email us at hlsa@law.harvard.edu. I am eager to serve as your President and I hope to see you at HLSA activities in the year ahead. With warmest regards, ![]() Peter C. Krause '74 President, Harvard Law School Association ![]() |
