This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating and sending newsletters on AlumniMagnet. Below is the training video and supporting notes.

Creating a Newsletter

  1. The easiest and fastest way to create a Newsletter is to use the Newsletter Wizard.
    • Click the + button to create a new Newsletter.
    • Click between the gray bars and select a template from the editing toolbar.
    • Once you select a template, click the Wizard button in the top right corner.
    • Fill in the open text boxes with the content you want included. This form auto-formats the text.
    • You may select an article to include automatically in the Newsletter.
    • Click the Process Content button once finished.
  2. Feel free to edit and format text and images as needed.

Testing a Newsletter

  • Use the Send Test button to immediately send a test email to all web admins, including HLS staff.
  • Check spelling, grammar, format, and links in the test email.

Sending a Newsletter

  • Select the Recipient List (All Who Opted In).
  • You can send immediately or schedule a time using the calendar.
  • Click Queue/Send Now and confirm on the confirmation page.

Reminder Emails

  • Duplicate a previous newsletter via the Sent tab to create a reminder.
  • Edit the duplicated newsletter as needed and update the subject line.

Saving a Newsletter in Progress

  • Click the Save button to save your work.

Editing a Newsletter

  • Use the editing toolbar to adjust content directly on the web page.
  • Use the Mail-Merge Dictionary for names and salutations if desired.
  • Refer to the “Editing an Article” section for formatting tips, images, hyperlinks, and more.

Newsletter Stats

  • After sending, the Sent tab shows sent amount, open rate, clicks, spam reports, and unsubscribes.
  • Click In-Depth to see raw vs. unique opens and who clicked links.
